Friends for more than 20 years, we created Shades of Brew to be more than just a place to grab a beer. We wanted to build a place where friends meet after work, families gather on weekends, conversations happen naturally, and the Salem community can come together. In 2021 Shades of Brew Taphouse opened to be Salem’s Third Space.

At Shades of Brew, we believe great beer brings people together — but community is what keeps them coming back.

Salem is home to some of the best breweries and craft beverages in the Pacific Northwest, and we’re proud to help tell that story. Through partnerships with local breweries, rotating taps, live events, food trucks, and our own handcrafted beer, our goal is to create a space that celebrates the people, flavors, and culture that make Salem unique.

In 2023, we took the next step in that mission by acquiring a nanobrewery in the heart of Salem. This new chapter allowed us to deepen our roots in the local craft beer scene while continuing Oregon’s tradition of exceptional brewing. Today, SOB Brewery blends creativity, local character, and a passion for great beer to craft experiences worth sharing.

Whether you’re joining us for a pint on the patio, trivia night with friends, live music, or simply a place to unwind after a long day, we hope Shades of Brew feels like your place — Salem’s Third Space.
